Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. After moving to Oxfordshire when she was five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Since the age of 6 Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actor and for several years, she was a student at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned performing and singing. When she was 10 Emma was already taking part in numerous Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. In 1999 casting began in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by agents through her Oxford teacher. After eight continuous auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint they were cast to play the three leads Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It set new records for beginning-day and weekend-opening sales and also was the highest-grossing production of the year 2001. Reviewers praised the film, as did its performances by the three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British publication, gave Emma high marks for her outstanding performance. Emma took home the Young Artist Award as the Leading Young Actress for part of a feature Film. Emma was awarded five times for her performance in the film.
