Maggie Grace is an American actress born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character in ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Born in Worthington Ohio she quit high school to move to Los Angeles with her mother when her parents separated. She landed her debut role in the film, Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. The television film Murder in Greenwich, in which she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for a Young Artist Award. Grace Rutherford's character in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award. Grace was a co-star alongside Tom Welling on The Fog during 2005, wanted to move into the world of film. She was in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club in 2007 and Taken (2008) with Liam Neeson. The same character was played by Grace as Kim Mills in Taken 2 and Taken 3 (both in 2012). Grace was back on the Lost series for the last two episodes playing Shannon. She was in 2013 for the sixth season of Californication. The character she plays is Faith as an admirer and muse to the celebrities. Hank Moody as played by David Duchovny falls in love with her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family She is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs and the older sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was a teenager She began working on small roles with her father. She also appeared in Donnie Darko with her brother. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, both 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was nominated to win the Golden Globe Award in both the drama Sherrybaby (2005) and the love story Secretary (2002). The two movies were critically acclaimed. She gained wider recognition after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercial films that she was a part of the year 2006. In the wake of her performance that was a hit as an unmarried mother in Crazy Heart (2009), she earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her subsequent roles include Nanny McPhee, The Big Bang and Hysteria. Other parts include acting as a Secret Service agent for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer for Secret Service in White House Down 2013, as a singer in Frank 2014 and also the role of a teacher in The Kindergarten Teacher 2018, where she is the title character. In 2021, Gyllenhaal made her writing and directing debut with the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
